PRISON ISLAND
MONTREAL
Mandate :
Complete the construction of Prison Island Montreal, an interactive entertainment center located on the second floor of a commercial tower in downtown Montreal.
Project Description:
The project included the construction of more than 30 game cells, a reception area and common spaces designed to accommodate a diverse range of visitors.
Completed within an accelerated schedule, this project required close coordination among all stakeholders to successfully meet each phase of construction. The first phase of the project had to be completed within a tight timeline to allow the client’s artists to begin the thematic fit-out of the individual game cells.
Throughout the project, our team also participated in revising drawings and construction details to accommodate design changes during construction and ensure seamless coordination between all trades involved.
A second phase of work focused on completing the reception area, washrooms and main entrance in order to support the facility’s timely public opening.
Starting from an existing commercial space, our team carried out all phases of construction, from demolition through to the final finishes, including interior systems, millwork, ceilings, coordination of electrical, ventilation and sprinkler systems, painting, and flooring installation.
We also contributed to the integration of several unique architectural features within the game cells, including a sloped floor and a tunnel incorporated directly into one section of the course.
Among the project’s most distinctive features is a custom-fabricated steel prison cell door, which serves as one of the focal points of the completed facility.
Thanks to efficient project management and rapid execution, the project was delivered on schedule, allowing the facility to open to the public as planned.
